Johnny R. Blassingame’s practice focuses on the representation of insurers and other businesses in civil litigation throughout Oklahoma and Texas. He has successfully litigated a wide variety of civil disputes ranging from first party bad faith cases involving life and long-term care insurance to multi-defendant federal class actions. Johnny also counsels clients in Oklahoma and Texas on numerous issues including contract drafting and interpretation, regulatory compliance, and employment and insurance law.
Johnny grew up in Tuscola, Texas and attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude. He obtained his juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2006.
Prior to joining Hampton Barghols Pierce in 2019, Johnny was a partner at the Oklahoma City law firm of Kerr, Irvine, Rhodes & Ables where he managed the firm’s litigation practice. Additionally, he advised life and accident/health insurers and third-party administrators on claims and coverage determinations as well as insurance producers facing regulatory compliance issues. During his fourteen-year tenure with Kerr, Irvine, Rhodes & Ables, Johnny also assisted with the representation of the Oklahoma Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association on insurance insolvency and regulatory matters.
